Location:175 S 3rd Street, Columbus OhioJob SummaryManaging Directors in Public Finance are experienced senior bankers with proven client relationship skills, extensive product knowledge, technical expertise, and strong transaction execution capabilities. They are often responsible for handling all client meetings, including those involving negotiations on pricing or structure of a financing. Managing Directors serve as key contacts for many clients, including senior C-suite executives in the Affordable Housing industry. Individuals in this role are widely recognized as industry experts and consistently high performers, typically with 10+ years of experience in Public Finance.Essential FunctionsResponsible for the origination, structuring, and distribution of Public Finance solutions to borrowers within the Affordable Housing sectorNetworks inside and outside of the company to broaden business knowledge and increase personal effectiveness; involvement in industry-related associations; establishes a network within the financial communityActs as primary banker and advisor for major clientsAdds new dimension to the client relationship by creatively drawing on the full resources of the companyKeeps abreast of emerging client trendsGathers information to understand client strategies and their view of market opportunitiesModifies proposals or plans to deal with clients’ concerns and incorporate clients’ suggestionsDevelops and maintains important client relationships and generates revenues from these relationshipsDemonstrates the organization’s value to clients in terms of clients’ financial strategies and measuresIdentifies ways that the organization’s product, sales, and service units work together to deliver valueSearches actively for ways to contribute to client profitabilityDevelops and maintains partnerships with all peers in Public Sector and Fixed Income to provide high-quality solutions and service to clientsProvides technical and developmental support to more junior individuals on the teamAssembles a balanced, diverse team to provide high-quality solutions and service to clientsMakes a systematic analysis to determine the cause of a problem and identify constraints before recommending action; acts decisively to implement solutions, resolves crisis, and follows up to assure resolutionDemonstrates an understanding of what is working, what is not working, and how to improve; searches actively for efficiencies in the way the organization services clientsInternal and external recognition of expertiseExecutes strategy within corporate guidelines and policiesPerforms other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without noticeComplies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including without limitation, acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.EducationBachelor's Degree (preferred)OR equivalent experience (required)Work Experience10+ years of relevant banking experience, with proven client relationship/sales abilities in the focus sectors within Public Finance (required)Proven and experienced in investment banking and capable of complete independent activity, including origination, structuring, and execution of large, complex transactions (required)Licenses and CertificationsFINRA License S7 (required)FINRA License S63 (required)SkillsPossesses broad product knowledge and specific technical expertiseExceptional at developing and maintaining important client relationships and generating revenues from these relationshipsAbility to articulate our products and services to clientsPossesses superior client relationship management, marketing presentation, and sales skills, in addition to extensive knowledge of products and markets; communicates proactively with traders, sales reps, and clientsAbility to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlinesExcellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-taskExcellent written and verbal communication skillsIdentifies and mitigates financial and operational risks in deal executionLeads diverse teams and provides strategic direction and mentorshipDevelops and executes strategies aligned with client goals and market trendsBuilds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including C-suite executivesOversees financial planning and revenue forecasting for client mandatesManages complex transactions from origination through executionContributes to internal policy improvements and client advisory frameworksDeep expertise in structuring and distributing public sector financing solutionsCore CompetenciesAll KeyBank employees are expected to demonstrate Key’s Values and abide by Key’s Code of Conduct.Physical DemandsGeneral Office - Prolonged sitting, ability to communicate face to face in person or on the phone with teammates and clients, frequent use of PC/laptop, occasional lifting/pushing/pulling of backpacks, computer bags up to 10 lbs.TravelOccasional travel to include overnight stay.Work Location CategoryHybrid (Sales)COMPENSATION AND BENEFITSThis position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $165,000.00 - $345,000.00 annually. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and geographic location.
